Opening Balances
The app's zero point: before real work begins, you enter the "current state" — how much is in each till, how much each customer owes or is owed. This page only exists in "opening mode" (a fresh install) and disappears forever after final lock-in.
Steps
- Record balances: for each account, enter the currency, amount, and nature (debit/credit). The other side of every voucher is the system's "Opening" account.
- Set the board rate: set a rate for every currency you've recorded a balance in (board rate).
- Overall revaluation: "Preview" first, then "Save" — the opening account's net position is converted to the reference currency at the board's mid rate and moved to Capital; the system balances out.
- Final lock: typing LOCK puts the system into live mode. Warning: this is irreversible — even the admin can't reopen it afterward.
Fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Account | Customer, till, bank, wallet, or asset (system accounts aren't allowed). |
| Currency and amount | The starting balance in that currency. |
| Balance nature | Debit = owed to us, or it's our own holding (till/bank/wallet); Credit = they're owed by us. |
Notes
- Before locking, you can delete any opening voucher; the balances revert.
- If you haven't set a rate for a currency, revaluing it fails and locking isn't possible.
- Judge the nature from the exchange's point of view: till/bank/wallet holdings = debit; a customer who is owed = credit.
